At Disputes Mediation we make booking your MIAM simple. On this page you’ll find everything you need to know about fees and how to book. To keep things clear, we’ve divided the information into two sections:
- Legal Aid Clients – if you think you may qualify for Legal Aid.
- Private Clients – if you are paying for your MIAM and mediation yourself.

You receive Income Support, Universal Credit, income-based JSA, income-based ESA, Pension Guarantee Credit
Family mediation is often significantly more affordable than going to court. In addition, Legal Aid may be available for those who meet the eligibility criteria.
If you qualify for Legal Aid:
Your MIAM will be free
Your first joint mediation session will usually be covered
In some cases, further sessions may also be funded
Even if only one person qualifies for Legal Aid, the other party’s MIAM and first joint session are typically included at no cost to them.

Is Family Mediation right for you?

In most cases, anyone applying to the family court must first attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM), unless a legal exemption applies. The MIAM allows you to understand your options and decide whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
